Centuries ago, Spanish Carthusian monks began breeding horses whose characteristics were legendary. Superior to other breeds in terms speed and agility, they possessed a strong will to perform and extraordinary finesse. These horses were regarded as an outstanding rider’s companion, exhibiting the perfect blend of grace, strength and loyalty.

Later, rulers tried to stop the breeding and ordered that these horses be cross-bred with the more typical European breeds of that time, which were larger and heavier. But the monks refused, took their horses to a safe place and simply continued breeding these horses undeterred.

Thanks to the Carthusian monks’ inventiveness, their unwavering attitude and decisive action, nothing has been lost of the extraordinary character of these horses.
